More Info

I will be going abroad to teach English with ILP ( international language program) ! I will be abroad from May 2020- August 2020. While I do not know where I am going to be located, the possibilities are endless! I could be sent anywhere from Mexico to the Ukraine and I cannot wait to see where I get place.

A little more about ILP:

International Language Programs participants are volunteers who have the life-changing experience of living abroad for a semester in countries all over the world. They get to experience the culture authentically by living like locals, create lasting relationships, and grow personally in countless ways. Instead of merely touring and traveling, participants also give something to the community they reside in.

ILP classes focus on:

Helping children speak English fluently which helps them get ahead in their education and opens doors for job opportunities. It carries on as they are able to effect their own communities as well.

Daily influence by ILP participants who have high standards creates a positive environment of learning and growth.

Precious one-on-one time with ILP participants who give love and care to the kids. We keep class sizes small so that each child has they attention they need to progress at their speed.

As this is a volunteer based program I will be fundraising for my trip in order for me to be able to go! Here is a breakdown of where the fundraising money will be going:

  • Round trip airfare from Newark to Utah for training.
  • Round trip airfare from Newark to my volunteer destination.
  • Visa to be able to stay in my volunteer destination for 90+ days.
  • School supplies I will be bringing to the children.

From now until I leave I will be fundraising for my trip as well as accepting donations. All donations no matter the size will be greatly appreciated! I will be updating on this website until I leave for my trip.

Thank you in advance for your generosity,

Olivia Reyes

Update #7

Hello everyone. NEW UPDATE!!!
In my last post I wrote that I was accepted into the Dominican Republic program. Since my last post I have been reassigned to Romania! Same details still apply as in my previous post which I will be reposting. I am super excited about Romania as it was my first location choice when I applied to ILP a few months ago.

In May 2020, I will have the incredible opportunity to spend four months volunteering in Romania. I will be teaching English to kids age 3-6 who come from families who have very limited means. The ability to speak English fluently will be extremely beneficial to these children, as well as to their families.
The organization I will be traveling with is International Language Program (ILP). ILP is a non-profit organization that has been sending volunteers abroad since 1992. ILP focuses on helping children in foreign countries all over the world learn English.
Because the children who participate in Romania program come from lower-income families, the classes I am teaching will be completely free for them to attend. ILP volunteers must pay their own expenses, Romania fee being around $3,000. This fee covers my costs to be a volunteer for a semester (like my flight to Romania, housing, meals, and visa requirements) and a portion also goes towards special service projects I’ll be able to help working on(more to come on that).
As a result, I am asking for your help. If you would like to donate to ILP on my behalf, your donations will impact the children we serve to have a better and brighter future. ILP is an IRS qualified 501(c)(3) charitable organization, and ANY funds you donate directly to them go fully to my program fee and are tax-deductible. They receive payments over the phone at (801) 374-8854.
If making a tax deductible donation does not pertain to you, I would be more than happy to receive donations directly on Venmo “Olivia-Reyes-8”, or in the form of cash or check. Please text me at (201) 364-3649 with any questions or for me to pick up a donation.
I could not be more grateful for the opportunity ILP has given me to spend a semester in Romania helping families who are in need. Thank you for all of your support it means the world to me.
With Love,
Olivia Reyes

Update #4

My first fundraiser is with Funds2orgs. Funds2orgs is a non profit organization that collects shoes to donate them to those in need. For my fundraiser I will be working hand in hand with one of their advisors to help collect as many shoes as I can. Once collected a truck will come and pick up the shoes and they will begin working on where to send them. All money raised from this fundraiser will be going straight to my trip. I will be collecting shoes until the end of August. Pickup will be available, all you need to do is contact me so we can choose a time for me to pick up your shoes!
