Where horses and nature lift the human spirit...

Your donation will support the building and outfitting of our new Western Craft Shop for active-duty military and veterans that attend Horse of the Sun Ranch Cowboy Academies

Horse of the Sun Ranch (HSR)  delivers equestrian and respite programs that build mental and physical strength and relief for military veterans, underserved youth, and their families.

In addition to horsemanship and cowboy instruction, HSR offers traditional Western leather craft activities, something the participants look forward to during their stay and can continue enjoying after their return home. In the past our participants have either worked off-site or elbow-to-elbow here at HSR, finding space here and there  to work on their craft projects.

After an extensive upgrade to an existing space, HSR is raising funds to outfit it as a shop for participants of all abilities. We will build specialized workbenches, upgrade lighting, and purchase leatherworking tools to ensure that all who are interested can learn Western leather crafting skills.

The great pride each individual feels when crafting something of quality by hand is simply magic for the spirit and a key ingredient to the success of HSR programs. A connection is made between the eye, hand and heart; the veterans discover self-confidence and the quiet work soothes their souls.

We plan to raise $7,000 to finish out the shop. The campaign ends March 31, 2018. Your donation helps get us to the goal and is greatly appreciated!

Update #3

Gerald is working on a cowboy cuff (roping wrist cuff) at Horse of the Sun Ranch. He is a member of Team 1 of the Jinx McCain Horsemanship Program of the Semper Fi Fund.

Learning leather skills and spending time working with their hands helps wounded military veterans achieve a sense of accomplishment and allows them to slow down after a day working with horses.

Your support helps fund the leather working shop at Horse of the Sun Ranch. Won't you donate today?

Update #2

Western Leatherwork is something Aaron loves to do after a day riding horses. Help Horse of the Sun Ranch provide workshop space for veterans and active military members to learn leather craft skills.
The Semper Fi Team Veterans will be building the workshop while they are here in January, and your donation will help purchase construction materials. Any donation you can make is helpful and deeply appreciated as we work toward fulfilling this worthy goal.
