Getting onstage is one thing. Being onstage, another.
HOOT! was designed to give musicians at every level of experience a regular occasion to make serious music in a casual setting. We’ve done that since 2011. From beginners and professionals alike, we deliver performances powerful enough to grace any Bay Area stage. We also have our share of clunkers, which is no problem; we exist as a musical family to help each other gain live experience and sharpen skills. We’re a supportive and forgiving bunch.
But who goes onstage to be forgiven?
It takes a lot of trial and error to develop stage legs. No matter how good things go during rehearsal, being in front of an expectant audience, and hearing yourself through a sound system can be jarring. It requires technique.
Thus, HOOT CAMP! - a monthly occasion to learn skills from a seasoned performer, and get stage experience in a workshop environment.
Topics will include:
Vocal Technique
How To Use a Microphone/Tech Basics
Dealing With Stage Fright: Breathing, Relaxation, & Confidence
“There Are No Mistakes”
Harmony
Accompaniment & Collaboration
Song Structure & Style
Hands, Legs, & Eyes: Finding Your Stance
And plenty more!
HOOT CAMP! begins in September 2018. We’re running this HOOT CAMPaign! to guarantee an uninterrupted first year of operation while HOOT! Campers gather. Funds will be used to pay to our instructors a respectable fee, and to cover administrative, promotional, and rental costs.
Please give us a hand!
With thanks,
