Why do we need Funding for Renovations?

My Brother's Keeper Service Center of Georgia, Inc. owns the Historic Griffin Hospital. The building is in need of many repairs. This need has greatly increased due to damage from tornadoes that moved through the Griffin area in January 2023. Currently, it needs a new roof, window restoration, interior buildout, security fencing (to prevent intruders and a "cut-through" for vehicles) and a general facelift. These improvements will positively impact our image in the Griffin area and central Georgia region. We also need a worksite on the property where volunteers can work. The remodeling will create space for our programs, as well as much needed insulation, lighting and other interior restorations.

What are the benefits of this project?

This project will create a multipurpose facility that will include a residential support program that serves people with disabilities, an expanded foster care unit to help relieve the growing cases of foster care children temporarily living in area hotels, a neighborhood food pantry, and development of a nurse training program for individuals who cannot afford nursing education by traditional means.

How will this project make an impact?

When completed, the building will beautify the area on Meriwether Street, provide a focal point for neighborhood activities, and drive new financial support for My Brother's Keeper Service Center and its programs. Making the building more energy efficient with modern split-level air conditioning and heating systems will save at least $25,000 annually on utility costs.

My Brother's Keeper Service Center will also expand its program opportunities in the central Georgia area to help people in need.  Additionally, My Brother's Keeper Service Center is a nurse-driven organization and when possible, we honor nurses and other public service personnel for their tireless work.

The success of any project like this stems not from the acts of a single person, but rather through the contributions of the greater community. In making your gift, you will help create an incredible opportunity to establish a much needed community resource in the 21st century and beyond.
