Update #1

Our hilarious, cheeky and loyal friend Henry has been in the fight of his life for almost two years and he needs our support. Henry was diagnosed with stage four cancer in 2017 and the bastard (the cancer, not Henry) has been relentless ever since.

He’s been through endless rounds of chemotherapy, surgery and radiotherapy. He recently suffered a brain haemorrhage while overseas and had to have emergency surgery. Recovering from this has added a new layer to Henry’s existing challenges – his eyesight, memory and movement were all affected.

In true Henry fashion, he’s been facing his circumstances like an absolute champion. If you’ve spent any time with him while he’s been sick, you’ll know he manages to still have more pep than most of us on a good day, and his sense of humour continually shines through.

But ultimately cancer is a real bitch and watching a loved one battle such an aggressive form of cancer is overwhelming, terrifying and traumatising.

In Henry's case there's an added layer of stress for him and his family. Henry lives in Perth but is as Kiwi as they come. His parents, Sue and Richard, live in Hokitika in NZ and his brother Thomas lives in the UK. They’ve uprooted themselves and moved to Perth on and off over the last two years, and the cost of multiple international flights, medical costs and living expenses has been astronomical for them.

Henry and his family are the kind of people who just get on with it. They tackle each problem as it comes and you will never, ever hear them complain. They're absolute troopers! They're very proud people and it has taken a long time for us to convince them to let us help.

Henry is currently back in hospital after another bleed on the brain and his family are making the trip back to Perth. Henry has a fiercely loyal group of friends in Perth and they have been there every step of the way, along with his amazing girlfriend Sarah who has been a true pillar of strength. But the thing about Henry is he’s an adventurer and has touched the lives of many people who are spread all over the world. We can’t all be there to give him a hug or help him in other ways at this time, and many of us want to help in any way we can.

So please, if you can spare a few dollars to help ease the financial stress for Henry and his family through this difficult time, it would be greatly appreciated.
