The UN Office for Humanitarian Affairs in Sudan said that rains and floods affected 195 thousand people in 15 states out of 18, and that the state of Kassala affected about 47 thousand and 500 people, and 24 thousand affected in the state of West Kordofan.
Heavy rains and flash floods since September 19 have affected about 24,000 people in Gedaref State, according to a UN Office report.Rains and floods have affected schools and classrooms, and about 33,000 students in 95 schools across Sudan have been affected.
The report added that a joint United Nations agency mission had recently visited the affected areas of Gedaref State to assess humanitarian needs and announced gaps in emergency shelter supplies and basic household items.
