Hello Hello!

Great news! Coach found an apartment! He is moving in June. Thank you to everyone for your support. Coach could not have done this without all of you!

We are still collecting donations for another week, and we'd love to help him for a full year. We are so close to our goal. Remember, anything helps!

More Info

It is not too often that an angel graces us with their presence and blesses us with their caring, wisdom and selflessness. Alphonso Jackson AKA Coach Al, has not only touched your life and mine, but he has touched thousands of others.

Today, we are writing to you because our Coach, our mentor, our friend needs our help.

Coach Al’s home that he had rented for the past 15 years was sold and the owners gave him 60 days to move. After living with a historical monthly rent that was never raised, he is now trying to find a home in the Bay Area’s high rental market while living on social security coaching work ( which has become 0 during this Pandemic).  We are writing because Al need's help getting into an apartment. Currently Al is staying with friends. Unfortunately the waitlist for senior living in the Bay Area has over an 18 month waiting list. The situation is serious and the sooner we can provide some assistance, the better.

For those who have stumbled onto this page and are curious who this amazing man is. Well, let us tell you! Coach Al was born in Dallas and became a world renowned champion runner, breaking records in distances and age group. He holds a very long list of accolades and has even been inducted into the National Black Marathoners Hall of Fame. But a few of his most notable accomplishments were carrying the Olympic flame for the United States in 2002, his work with the kids from Students Run Oakland (SRO) and being Head Coach for Team in Training Bay Side Team for 20 years- raising $81M for blood cancers. He has a talent to train and inspire- physically, but most of all mentally, and we are honored to call him Coach! He has revived so many lives and contributed to those who have needed a little lift. He provides a moral compass and has led us to success in all we do. He has helped poverty-stricken kids realize a better path, helped alcoholics and drug addicts learn to run as an addiction and find sobriety, he worked at San Quentin and helped lifers to be active and maintain physical and mental health and stability.

It is now our turn to help. After multiple conversations and a lot of convincing ( for those who know Coach, you know he would not agree to this easily), we are reaching out to his incredible network in his time of need. Our goal is to provide him the funds so he can secure a rental and be comfortable while the world finds its new normal during this Pandemic. We would be grateful to everyone who can find a little time and money to help a hero in a time of need.

Feel free to leave comments which we will share with Coach. We know that if you know Coach, your heart is probably breaking for him.

We are asking that you respect his privacy and if you want to speak to know more about what is happening or send some love; please reach out to one of us (Facebook messenger or email is totally ok).

Thank you and GO TEAM!

Update #3

Hey Everyone!

We are truly touched by everyones generosity during these crazy times. Coach Al is seeing this page and thanks you all from the bottom of his heart.

We are almost at 20k, and the goal as of now is to hit 25K minimum. Fundly does take a percentage to pay for the website, etc and our goal is to provide an entire year of rent for our favorite man! Obviously we will keep the page up for a full month and if we can raise even more, thats even more security for a great man in need right now.

If you can pass this page to others, please do not hesitate. No amount is too small! GO TEAM!

Update #2

THANK YOU SO MUCH! We hit 15k so quickly, we decided to up the goal with the idea that we can put a year rent upfront.

Which brings me to my next question: If anyone has leads on apartments, please let us know. It would be great to be in a position where we could pay for a year of rent upfront since guaranteeing 2x the rent income monthly might not be an option at this time.
