As many of you know I'm on disability, which means I'm on Medicare. I have part D which covers my prescriptions to a point.
With medicare there is something called the GAP period when medicare says okay we covered enough now you have to pay more. According to the insurance companies (I went with thre most cost effective for 2021) my prescriptions just in January will be over $1,300. That is the same month I enter my GAP (many people never hit this level in an entire year) coverage for 2021. I will remain there until April.
So while I am currently in my GAP coverage for 2020 I am unable to pay bills to live, pay for doctor's visits (my specialists are $45 a visit and I need 6 different ones) and my medications. I'm went from an A1c of 5.5 in May to over 7 now. This is because I'm having to ration my medications to make them last. I cannot afford three of my diabetes medications at this time. This does not include the medications I take for my heart and lungs and thyroid (medication I have to have because I no longer have a thyroid due to cancer) medications. Sadly my health has gotten worse since May and I'm on oxygen. While I'm working hard to get better the stress of trying to figure out how I'm paying for these medications over the next 5 months does not help.
So please anything helps. I will pay it forward once I am able. I hate hate asking for help especially when it's for myself. I just want to be able to be as healthy as possible so I can watch my beautiful grand daughter grow up.
