Update #1

Loki is a very quiet, loving, handsome young boy who so far has had a very difficult life. Loki first showed up in the garden of one of Friends of Larnaca cat's foster moms in October 2020. He was very timid and it took a lot of coaxing to get him to allow the foster mom to approach him. She fed him, took him to the vet for vaccinations and did her best to care for him. Unfortunately Loki came down with pneumonia in December 2020 After much medication and numerous daily nebulizer treatments, in January 2021, Loki was given a clean bill of health. Loki stayed small and at 9 months of age he only weighed 2.5 kg. But a more serious disease was lurking and in Jun 2021, the vet determined that Loki had haemobartonella, a blood disease. Loki was put on antibiotics and then a large lump was found in his abdomen. Exploratory surgery was performed and it was determined that Loki had enlarged lymph nodes throughout his intestine. Samples have been sent for testing as there are several possible conditions including Lymphoma (a form of cancer) and Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP). Loki is currently undergoing treatment for dry FIP because the vet felt is was the most likely diagnosis and we are hoping for a positive result. Poor Loki has had a rough life so far and his vet bills are skyrocketing. Friends of Larnaca Cats have done their best to help with the bills, and the foster mom has been covering the majority of the veterinary costs herself, but now she is asking for help to give this sweet loving boy a chance at life. If he has FIP then treatment could cost $3000 or more, on top of the bills that have already been paid. If it is lymphoma then it could cost $8000. Any contribution you can make for poor loving Loki would be greatly appreciated.
