The studio needs some extra funding to get us off the ground. We need new supplies for classes and some breathing room. We found a small, cozy space with low rent so we can make our classes affordable for all.
A yoga practice looks like many things.
It’s a time for growth,no matter what that looks like to each individual in the room, they are there to grow.
To grow for the moment
To grow for the day
To grow for the year.
It’s a personal practice. Yes, we are here to create a community but when you’re on the mat, you’re there for yourself. There is no competition, no comparisons, and no commitment to anyone but yourself.
To me, my practice helps me grow mentally. It’s usually the first time in my day that I actually breathe. In, out, in, out..rhythmically. Before yoga, when people would tell me to “just breathe” I would want to scream. I AM BREATHING! IM ALIVE AREN’T I? But now that I’ve dedicated some time to my practice I’m thankful for the reminder.
I deal with anxiety on a daily basis. I react, I recoil in shame, I run away from things in fear of failing.
I go to yoga to work on that. I’m not perfect now that I’ve spent time on my mat, and I never will be. I will however catch myself during stressful moments and tell myself to take a breathe, take a moment, assess the disruption, then react calmly. I owe this to my yoga practice. Like I said before, Yoga means a lot to many people, but what we all have in common is that it calms us down not only in the classes but in real life as well.
I started the process towards creating a space for others so that can find that moment for themselves. A place they can come to for an hour and just breathe. For themselves. To allow the stress and anxiety to melt a little.
For my birthday I’m asking for your help. The studio needs some extra funding to get us off the ground. We need new supplies for classes and some breathing room. We found a small, cozy space with low rent so we can make our classes affordable for all.
Thank you for helping me with my dream of creating a safe space for all. Thank you for your time, thank you for your support and most importantly thank you for being in my life.
