Update #11

We are forging ahead slowly but surely!!! Today we should be digging and starting the perk test for the septic system. Yay!!!! Then afterwards we can submit the application with perk results for the permit to install the septic system.

More Info

Hi everyone! We are the Flowers, we rescue, rehab and provide lifelong sanctuary to horses and ponies in need, and recently we rescued a few sheep. We also raise Navajo Churro Sheep in an effort to preserve the Heritage breed. Last year we purchased 41 acres and embarked on a new endeavour! It took us 2 months of back to back trips but we got all the horses and corrals moved from Southern California to Northern Nevada! It also ate up our savings, but that was ok because we did this for the horses to have more freedom and better lives. Fast forward several months and now we humans need some help. We need to build a house. We have been living the past year in a toy hauler (fine by us) but to be compliant we need a house. Bummer I know. But we don't want to step on toes. So we have plans on building a small A frame cabin. We will be building it ourselves, but we need help with paying for the blueprints. We have an engineer willing to draw the blueprints, stamp them and even help us with the build. But we need 3500, half what other engineers asked for. Please consider helping us cover this cost so that we can continue caring for these 20 horses in the sanctuary.

We have plans to become 501c3, but this requires a physical address. In order for a physical address, we need to build. So we are caught in a loop. We must go forward step by step and the first step is blueprints,  2nd permits, 3rd building, 4th we file for 501c3❤

We have future plans of growing and selling non gmo heritage seed crops, corn, beans, squash, melons, peas, etc. We will sell the seeds thru an online shop to sustain the sanctuary. But we can't start that journey until there is a house on the property, per the county.

Update #10

We have awesome news!!!! We were given the go ahead to apply for the septic permit! The fee for this is only 150!!! And it will give us time to save for the needed blueprints while we install the septic system. Yay!!!! So we will be doing the perk test ourselves as soon as the rain lets up

Update #7

Yay!!! We are a bit closer to the goal!!!
We had an absolutely awesome meeting the other day, and have worked out a little bit of an extension!! WooHooooo!!!!
Which means that we have a little more time to raise funds. Right now, we need to raise $700 before the end of May. This will get us the very much needed extension. Please help us reach this mini goal!

Update #4

We are stuck. I'll be honest, we cannot continue to save lives of horses if we don't have a house on the property. Our intention was to start building a year ago, but expenses took a huge toll on us. Our savings (67,000) was depleted during the move to the acreage we purchased. Then, as we started saving again, we were hit over and over again with unexpected expenses, car repair, vet bills, payed 300 a week for water until we were able to get our own water truck, thanks to many angels who donated towards the truck and water tank. . Now we haul our water ourselves.
We are able to purchase building supplies in small amounts and build slowly, but first we need blueprints. They cost $3500. We must submit them within the next couple of weeks or we must leave. Please consider sending a dollar, 2 dollars, anything helps us get closer to getting the prints that the county is requiring.
100% our income goes to feeding and caring for these souls. Please help us continue to care for these spirits.

Update #2

Please share, and help us build a home. We cannot continue rescuing and providing sanctuary to these horses unless we have a permanent home for us humans on the property. Every single dollar we earn goes to feeding and caring for the horses in our sanctuary.

Update #1

Hi everyone!!! Please share far and wide! We need all the help we can get. If everyone pitched in even $1 We could achieve this goal in no time and be on our way to building so that we have a house by Winter. This last Winter we lived in our toy hauler, which is ok, but cold. We have the knowledge and skills to build our house, we just need the blueprints per county code. We have an engineer drawing them up, but need the funds to cover them.
