We are raising money to keep the doors of Amos House open. We are a transitional shelter for women and children and need funding to make repairs on our secure front door and many needed repairs as well as operating costs
Amos House is a non profit transitional homeless shelter in Danbury CT that has been around for 30 years, started by local churches to serve the needs of homeless adults and children in the Greater Danbury area. It has enveloped over the years but with the loss of our major HUD funding two years ago we now keep our doors open with only 4volunteers willling to spend their spare time to ensure the women and children living there do not end up on the street.if you were to walk into Amos House you would see happy children, women cooking and a home atmosphere. We would like this to continue but we are financially struggling and need help. We need our front door, which is a secure locked and monitored door fixed, our air ducts cleaned and many other repairs that have gone undone for lack of money. Monetary donations will help us pay someone to write grants to get us staff so we can have more supervision in the home and staff dedicated to getting these women and children the resources they need to move on to permanent, affordable housing. As one of the volunteers I know that this program is vital to our community. There is only one other shelter like ours around and they are full as well. Children need a place to call home and Amos House provides this.
Please help us by making a donation to assist is in keeping Amos House open and making it a better home to the families we serve.
