Update #2

I have seen such tremendous growth in Therrien this year. My fellow Dance instructors you will appreciate these next few lines:

Therrien is one of those students I saw potential in from the first ballet (7-9) class he attended. Coming to me from out of state I wasn't sure what to expect, on the first day of class he stood out among the other students showing poise and confidence standing en bas at the barre. With every correction that was given he made an effort to work until it was correct, I see this in him now more than ever!

Therrien continued to take ballet throughout the year, then later added jazz on the recommendation of a collogue.

Last summer I approached his parents asking them to let him tryout for the studios competition team and he did. He Successfully made the team and was put with our lyrical and jazz minis. I also decided to take him under my wing while choreographing and teaching his current solo. At first, he was the slightest bit overwhelmed (as any student is with a first time solo), but he rose to the occasion within a month working extremely hard for me in his weekly solo rehearsals and technique classes. This hard work and dedication paid off as he competed in, and won, the Dance Masters of Michigan 2018 Solo Title competition. His new title of Dance Master of Michigan 2018 is something he is very proud of and makes him want to work even harder to do honor to the title.

Therrien is to the point now where I can say a correction in ONE WORD and he will fix it right away! For example, when I am working on him engaging his core and all I need to do is say engage, I would like to clone him some days. This child has incredible body awareness that I do not see a lot in children his age. Just last week he pulled a triple pirouette for me in technique class! I cannot wait to see what the dance future will hold for this little guy.

I am extremely proud to be a Dance Masters member and to represent the amazing group of teachers in Dance Masters of Michigan's Chapter 4. I am also excited to see the extreme growth Therrien will have as a person throughout this year being a title holder.

I want to thank you very much for taking the time to read my story and thank you for donating. This trip is absolutely not possible without your help. I believe in Therrien and I thank you for believing too in him too!
