In early February Shyla was rushed to the hospital in severe pain and it was discovered that she had suffered a brain aneurysm and a stroke. She was transported by ambulance to Savannah Memorial Hospital where she was immediately seen by a neurosurgeon. Shyla under went two complicated neuro-surgeries to relieve the bleeding on her brain. Shyla spent a week in ICU and then began a long road of healing. Shortly after coming home from Savannah Memorial, Shyla again ended up in the hospital due to severe back pain. An MRI was completed and a tumor was discovered near her spine. She was referred to a specialist and will need to undergo surgery to diagnose the tumor in the coming months.
Due to extreme fatigue, pain, and short term memory loss, Shyla has been unable to return to work. As a family with three teenagers and many pets, this has been extremely difficult financially for Shyla and Brian.
In addition, Shyla unfortunately does not have health insurance and is struggling to pay the hospital bills and the much needed Doctor's appointments and medications that she will continue to need.
Shyla and Brian have been an incredibly important part of JARM for the last 5 1/2 years. They have gone above and beyond to help the people and pets of Jasper County time and time again without hesitation. They now need our help so Shyla can focus on her health and not on finances. Any amount helps. Thank you!
