Help Send Josie on Alaska Mission Trip

Help Send Josie on Alaska Mission Trip

From Josie Sims

I have the opportunity to go on an Alaska Mission trip with the Baptist Student Union. Although I do not know what the future holds for me, I know my home is in the mission field.

My name is Josie Sims. I am a sophomore at Itawamba Community College in Fulton, Mississippi, and my major is psychology. By earning a degree in Psychology, I hope to use my degree in the mission field. I want to do this is to open a Christian non-profit organization for vulnerable and lost women. This Christian non-profit organization will help women from every background. I believe that a growing, thriving relationship with Jesus could help vulnerable women find hope for emotional, physical, and social healing from their past or even present battles. Whether they suffer from alcohol abuse, drug abuse, prostitution, an abusive relationship, or just have lost their way, I want to help them find their way again. Allowing them to understand that their past does not define who they are or who they can become.

Since I have been at ICC, I have become an active member of the Baptist Student Union and serve on the Lead Team. This relationship has given me the incredible opportunity to go on a Mission Trip to Alaska with the BSU in March of this year. We will be serving the people in these communities in various ways, but most importantly, we will be sharing Jesus Christ! I am humbled to have the opportunity to be the Lord's hands and feet.

I have been fortunate to go on several missions trips through my church youth group. My first mission trip was when I was ten years old, and I was able to go to Arlington, Texas. We did backyard Vacation Bible School with kids and LOVED every minute of it. Since then, I have been very fortunate to go on other mission trips; for example, I have been to Texas, Colorado, Alabama, Missouri, and Tennessee. Through these trips, I have found my calling and where my heart is. While I am not sure what God has planned for me in the future, I know that the mission field is where I feel most at home.

I greatly appreciate your support, regardless of whether it is through prayers or financial contributions. While any amount is welcome and greatly appreciated, prayer is a part of the support we cannot do without your help. Please pray for God to provide for every need and that He would begin preparing our hearts to serve Him. Also, I ask for His protection to cover us, His presence to be with us, and all His purposes to be accomplished.

I am thrilled and anxious as I wait to see all the things God will do in the lives of the community we will be spending time with and in my life as well. I am excited to see how God will use me and excited to see what He will teach me on this trip!

Thank you for your prayers and support!
