More Info

In 1975 at the age of 19, she saved enough money to buy an old 1850's German made antique cello from a luthier who recognized her passion and gave her a good deal on the well worn instrument. She has spent the past 40 years carefully and lovingly restoring it, taking great care to retain its antiquity and rich sound. The cello has been with her through many of life's milestones as a trusty friend and musical therapist. Angela plays professionally at weddings and special occasions and also accompanies her partner, Canadian folk singer songwriter Joe Charron, in performances in folk clubs and other venues around BC. Last month, Angela's beloved cello was stolen out of her car in downtown vancouver. Given its age, it does not have a serial number, making it extremely difficult to track.  Police were unable to find it and after multiple calls to the police station and carefully combing through craiglist, they have informed us that it is most likely a lost cause.  I have started this campaing to help Angela buy another cello. A low quality student cello falls in the range of $1,500-$2,500, whereas a cello of decent quality that would support Angela's level of expertise runs anywhere from $5, 000 - $25, 000. In 2003, Angela's cello was valued at $8,500, most likely worth more now with all the work that she has put into it in the past 12 years since. We are asking you to help us raise $6, 500 so that Angela can afford to buy a new cello and fill her life once again with music. Even if you can only donate $5, anything helps!
