The purpose of this campaign is to provide tangible support to students of all nationalities and ethnic backgrounds who are enrolled at Ukrainian universities (mostly between 19 and 25 years of age) and who were forced to flee the country from the atrocities of the Russian invasion and acts of violence against civilians in Ukraine. As participants of “Project Fleck” they will be awarded with a mentoring scholarship organized by the Collegium Invisibile Academic Society in Poland.
Participants in the program will be provided with a monthly stipend to alleviate the pragmatic pressures caused by sudden relocation and to support continuation of their studies despite the unprecedented situation. Simultaneously, each recipient will be assigned to an advanced Polish student who will offer mentoring support. We are aware that the unprecedented emotional pressures need to be acknowledged by mentors who will be provided with appropriate psychological training before establishing contacts with their mentees, including:
Currently we plan at least 25 pairs to start collaboration, which is scheduled to consist of at least 8-10 contact hours over the period of at least 4 months (subject to extension depending on external circumstances). The meetings will be tailored to the needs and expectations of the mentee, with whom mentors will share their “good practices” and will inspire and further motivate their work despite external challenges. We are committed to providing a platform that will engender unmediated forms of academic help by introducing its beneficiaries into a network of contacts and letting them experience proverbial “Polish hospitality” at academic institutions in Poland.
The results of each collaboration will be certified by a diploma attesting to the program's completion issued by Collegium Invisibile Academic Society, whose prestigious position within Polish academia will help strengthen the credentials of refugee students within the Polish context. The program will culminate in a weekend symposium to be held online, which will allow all participants meet each other and further enhance their professional skills through carefully tailored workshops led by mentors.
Project Fleck was founded in 2008 to honor Ludwik Fleck, a Polish-Jewish scientist and theorist of knowledge born in Lviv and active in Poland, Austria, and Israel. Its aim is to provide support to students at Ukrainian universities, including purchases and shipping of foreign scientific publications that are hardly accessible otherwise.
Since its inception the program is administered by Collegium Invisibile Academic Society in Poland, an independent registered charity NGO, which works towards the improvement of academic standards in Poland through fostering collaboration and transfer of experience and knowledge through mentoring. All of Collegium’s projects rest on the principal values of open-mindedness, collaboration, and accountability. In accordance with its original goals, the society continues to foster an intellectually stimulating network of purpose-driven individuals committed to civil society.

The Princeton Polish Society is a student organization registered at Princeton University. Our mission is to foster a Polish community on campus and give students space to interact with Polish culture, cuisine, and language. While many of the society's members are of Polish origin, we are equally welcoming to all enthusiasts of Poland and those curious to discover its cultural richness and diversity. The fundraising campaign is organised in collaboration with the Polish Societies at Harvard and Stanford Universities.
