From Peter Kibaara

Am raising Money to help me and my community plant 1000 trees along River Munyari in tharaka south district in KENYA. IT used to be a permanent river but now it has turned into a seasonal river because of tree logging.

When i was growing up, this river was a permanent river supplying water to more than 1000 people, as we talk now, the river dries immediately the rain stops. having realised this, i raised a small tree nursery whereby i have been raising Neam tree seedlings which after establishment, i have been planting them on the river banks of this river. i have taken this campaign personal because i want to do a kilometer stretch  as a demonstration then i invite the community to do the other 9 kilometer stretch. the river from its source to the mouth is approximately 10 kilometers long.

The funds am seeking for are to help in labor mobilization and also maintenance of the seedlings up to establishment. that is for a period of about 1 year.

My Nursery bed has enough seedlings so i wont buy others, instead i will use those ones in my nursery bed.

so far i have planted over 500 trees and they have established and doing well.

to plant and maintain one tree till establishment, it costs about 5$. that is to transport the seedling from the nursery bed to the site, excavation of the pit, planting, watering and maintaining for about 1 year.
