My name is Michael Richer and I'm fundraising on behalf of my beloved kitty, Peach. After a summer of intermittent gastrointestinal issues and a stressful cross-country move, I was overjoyed to see her thriving in a new home. But she suddenly got very sick on August 17 and I had to take her to an emergency vet for inpatient hospital care and testing. I love her very much and I want to make sure I can afford the care she needs to get back on her little feet.

Peach found her family in 2018 when she followed me home one very cold night. I don't know what her story was before then - my best guess is that she was abandoned by a previous owner - but she quickly became my baby once I let her inside.

Things were pretty, well, peachy until Peach started showing signs of gastrointestinal illness in May 2021. I went through several frustrating months of testing and vet visits. At the same time, I was preparing for a cross-country move from Washington State to Massachusetts for graduate school. It was an incredibly stressful time but Peach pulled through all of it like a champ.

She seemed to be settling nicely into the new house until she suddenly started vomiting on the morning of August 17. The vomiting continued all day and she got more and more lethargic. When we finally got into the emergency vet, her blood pressure was so low that she would've died without immediate treatment. Further testing will be required to determine the underlying issue, but the priority right now is to stabilize her vitals.

Any funds raised will go toward paying for the emergency vet care Peach is currently receiving. Because I left my steady job in Washington at the end of July and won't start my graduate teaching position until September, August was always going to be a financially tight month. Moving has also taken a large bite out what money I had. I am afraid that these unexpected vet expenses will put me past my means.

If you have any dollars to spare, please consider donating a few to Peach. Just like many of your pets, she is a beloved little member of my family and I want to do everything I can to get her back home. We are both extremely grateful for any and all help you can give.
