About Help Patty Home

Dear friends and family,

I have an employee and good friend that needs our love and assistance to put life back together and get her back into a home for her family. Patty is a single mother of three children, one of which has an extreme food allergy condition. After a couple of visits to the hospital last year, her fragile budget collapsed and the four of them moved into her sister’s condo in the suburbs of Denver. Patty works a fulltime as well as a part-time job though more than half of her paycheck is garnished to cover the very-necessary health insurance plan for her kids. It all adds up to one strong woman trying to raise three children on an unimaginably small amount of money. Patty is fierce about her finances and makes every dollar count. Her family lives on a very small amount and our help will give her a chance to stabilize. Together, I want us to make her whole materially again.

She does have a car but often carpools for her commute to work, which is more than an hour each way. This helps her minimize gas expenses and allows her daughter the experience of driving as well as the duty of picking up and taking the other kids to school each day. Her kids are her joy and her priority. Several times, she has left work, at a moment’s notice, to run across town to be with one of her kids in the ER (for something as simple as when a student at school spit milk on her son’s face and her son, due to these allergies, became so swollen he could hardly breathe).

The thing that makes me reach out today is Patty’s spirit. She is ever-resilient, strong and giving herself. She always has a smile on her face and makes time to help anyone who steps through her door. She is one of those very caring and loving people that just warms the heart.

One day recently, when her smile was just a little less bright, she confided in me that all she really wanted was a small space of her own with her kids again. A place where they can walk home after school, do homework at the kitchen table and just be together. Today, I want to help her have that.

The goal is to raise one year of rent, for a modest apartment near her children’s schools, by Christmas. We need 1,800 gifts of $100 to total $18,000 which will provide 12 months of rent at $1,500 per month. Who’s with me?

Love you all and hope to see you soon. Thanks in advance for your support!

Katie

NOTE: Patty was my mother’s name and is the alias I am using for this strong woman (the real Patty loved family and had an enormous amount of determination too). We’re keeping the fund family’s identity private for the sake of her teenage children. You can message me to get details, if you need more information.

The kids are not used to always having a bed and certainly none of them are accustomed to having their own beds. They have not had TV in a long while either (Patty is fierce with that budget). Let’s help them start out with the basics.

Other things we will need:

  • 4 beds

  • Bed sheets and blankets

  • Dishes

  • Sofa

  • TV

  • Kitchen table and chairs
