Update #3

Twins were born quite early at 26 weeks unexpectedly and admitted on 11th May at a semi-government hospital. Based on the expert opinion (neonatal specialist) they may require treatments at least for a period of 2 months out of which 5 weeks have already passed.
One Baby already underwent a surgery due to immature intestines. Due to this, breast milk is avoided time to time and nutrition is fed directly in to the veins.
The other one has several problems. Firstly, doctors identified a blood patch in the brain and multiple scans were taken frequently to monitor its growth. So far it hasn’t increased to a critical level. Secondly, hemoglobin levels in the blood was lacking and was given a transfusion. Later, it was revealed that the baby has a fungus instilled in its blood. Suitable medicine was not available in Sri Lanka and the parents have had to import the medication personally from Singapore. A week after the other baby was taken out from the ventilator, medical team observed difficulties in baby’s breathing. The specialist doctor mentioned that it could be due to Chronic Lung Disease.
Parents are at a helpless state as the funding for hospitalization and medication are a demanding feat. With much hesitation they have opted to seek external help to support financially at the darkest of their times..
