Update #4

3 days ago on the first day back to work, we sat down with all our local staff and had them compile a list of things they need in all the different villages. We decided they've had enough rice and noodles, we wanted to get them fresh vegetables every few days, sleeping mats, silverware and cooking ware. Many of the camps hadn't received any donations whatsoever! Contrary to what we had believed. We started by going to East Lombok first dropping things off to a village where a few of our guys live! The first of your donations went towards fresh produce, sleeping mats, feminine supplies, cooking supplies, diapers, formula, and building materials for temporary shelters.

Thank you all so much! Please visit my page and share the URL! I STILL NEED YOUR HELP!!! We haven't had another donation in 6 days and I still have 20 days left to be pushing this! It was shocking to see how bad it actually was for the girls, we felt that people had been downplaying all the help. It was worse than we thought and there's still so much to do! <3 <3 <3

More Info

Hi everyone! It is with an extremely heavy heart that I humbly write this to you this afternoon. This morning before 7 am on July 29, Lombok (the closest large island) suffered a 6.4 magnitude earthquake. I was riding my bicycle on the island and felt it here. Lombok has suffered extreme damage. Almost all of our captains and boat crew are from Lombok, Indonesia. They live here on the island in staff quarters making money to send back to Lombok for their wives and children who they get to see 4 days a month. 4 members of our boat crew had to rush home this morning to tend to families and houses- Habibi, Rosie, Aarie, and Abass lost their homes and Aarie's nephew took a huge blow to the head when the house fell and didn't survive, he was 5 years old. They also have multiple family members that suffered injuries alongside lost houses. Abass only finished his house 3 months ago.

A week later on the 5th of August a 7.3 hit Lombok with even more force. Resulting in more displacement, massive destruction, and the loss of our bartender, Jey's entire family- wife and child when his house collapsed. It has been a month and we've raised over half of the funds! Please keep them coming! I am starting to divide the money up and send it out to the necessary parties.

These guys are our family! We work side by side them every day and are always trying to help them out whenever they need something! If you could PLEASE find it in your heart to even donate 5 or 10 dollars, anything will help! It will now be a long process to get these guys back what they've worked hard for years to build. With your help, we could make the adjustment for them and their families faster than without. Please help us support our Indonesian family in this hard time!

If you have any questions or would like to help in other ways, please contact me and I will let you know what you can do!

Update #2

THANK YOU ALL! I'm so happy this is still going strong after a month! It's so nice to get a notification on my phone and see that it's another donation! I have just gotten back to Gili Air and took out the first chunk of money to start delegating where it goes! I will have a chat with my manager and fellow instructors to help me split the money up so it can start going to our Blue Marlin Family dependent on needs. It's because of YOU that we were able to do this!

I have a few other friends doing crowdfunding as well who have managed to put the money to use for immediate supplies that people in crisis and communities need. The money we have raised is dedicated towards houses and rebuilding versus immediate day to day needs, unless required. That was always my intention. So please keep sharing and telling people about this! And please keep us on your mind!

Thank you!!! #gilistrong #lombokstrong
