hey! I'm Helping my dear friend Natalie raise enough money to acquire a camper van to call their home. Corona virus has impacted their work as they work in the service industry, leaving them struggling to make ends meet.
Natalie is a human being a hold dear to my heart. They are a queer POC who was born and raised in Portland Oregon, enduring the subtle, yet very present racial biases that this city possess. Being a queer afab person of color in the whitest city in the US, being a strong human is essential. Natalie is probably the toughest person I have met, but poverty has taken a hold, proving a hard thing to shake. They are incredibly hard working in every aspect of life, but unfortunately have been thrown into a situation where their hard work is not paying off financially leaving them stuck between a rock and hard place. Nat works a full-time service industry job in Portland an industry that is not for the faint of heart. Working in restaurants is very hard to escape after you have been working them for years having work experience in only kitchens, this in conjunction with a pandemic and lack of work have created a deep hole for Natalie to begin to climb. The state of the world is any thing but normal at the moment, with the highest cost of living/wage gap the country has seen, a worldwide pandemic, and an intense civil rights moment happening simultaneously. The combination of three historic crisis, has left Natalie struggling to keep afloat, working their ass off only to not be able to afford rent. Natalie is the strongest people I know, motivated to better their life without asking for help. They deserve better. Natalie is also the mother to an adorable child named Boden. Natalie's mom takes care of Boden, but lives in Mcminnville, far from where Nat lives in North Portland. They don't get to see their child often due to the obstacle of no reliable transportation along with working full-time.
Unfortunately, they are not in a position conducive to saving money to be able to afford a camper conversation van, the crucial step in their plan. Natalie wants to drastically their housing costs so they are able to begin the grueling process of escaping poverty. They will also be able to spend time more time with their child, benefiting both in positive ways.
I know everyone is struggling right now, but whatever extra money you can afford to donate to Natalie is appreciated more than you know. Nat is a one in a million human being who deserves so much more than life has been able to provide for them.
