My name is Christopher and I am the parent of a transgender daughter. In recent months, Texas’ Republican politicians have grossly placed more and more attention on gender-affirming treatments for trans youth. In February, Governor Greg Abbott directed the state’s child-welfare agency to conduct abuse investigations of parents who provide their children gender-affirming care. For the past few months, my wife and I have been lying in bed at night wondering if they’re going to take our child away in fear that someone will report her to DFPS.
DFPS has opened multiple investigations into the parents of trans children. The nation’s largest pediatric hospital, Texas Children’s in Houston has also haulted gender therapy programs at its medical centers due to the governor’s order.
We have been inspired by other families under attack to start this campaign to help us relocate to a safe state where our daughter can safely resume her transition.
