when I got to the hospital they asked for the Insurance papers or a credit card. I showed them her insurance id, and after a while they said it was okay. They did a lot of tests and it turned out that she had COVID plus Influenza plus a kidney infection. Once she was stabilized they took her from emergencies to a room.
Once her health problem was being treated, the financial one started. The insurance claimed that since she had three diseases, she had to pay the deductible times three, one for each disease. That way, they would not pay for anything under 20,000 usd.
It was a five day battle with the insurance company, which ended up in applying only one deductible for all three diseases. So, they payed about 20% of the total and she was left with almost ten grand to cover.
She´s getting better, the COVID and the Influenza are gone, and the kidney infection decreases with each passing day. Thank God.
I am creating this fundraiser in hope of finding good souls that will help alleviate the burden my family carries in this difficult time.
