I'm trying to raise money to help my father get the medical treatment that he needs in order to live. We have to travel out of state for treatment
My father, Joe Woodruff, was recently diagnosed with high risk MDS bordering on the edge of developing AML. The only way to cure MDS and prevent the development of Leukemia is intensive chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant. He is not a candidate for this due to his underlying heart and lung conditions. There is another treatment available that has a great potential to put him into remission. We will need to travel to Boston for one week every month in order to receive this. He will be treated by Dr. Stone at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. We have made two trips already and will begin his weekly stays next week. The institute has been great helping with housing and transportation within Boston. They can’t always do so but every little bit counts! Due to his back injury, he is unable to make the trip there by car so will be flying Cape Air out of Lake Clear for each visit. Any donations will help tremendously with airfare and copays. I will also have to take a week off from work each month in order to bring him. I’m moving out of my house and will be staying with my brother in order to save as much money as I can for travel but it still won’t be nearly enough. This is his only option to extend his life and try to beat this disease. If you’re able to help in any way, I’m forever grateful!
