In December of 2021 I took a leap of faith and accepted an offer at my dream job, Roc Nation. For those that are not familiar with the music industry, Roc Nation is a record label and management company that was founded by hip hop mogul Jay Z who also serves as one of our clients. Other clients range from some of the world's biggest stars including Alicia Keys, Megan The Stallion, Willow and Jaden Smith, Christina Aguilera and many more.
I knew that this opportunity was rare and therefore had to say yes immediately despite the fact that they wanted me to start in less than a month. I left my job at Sony Music Entertainment a week later and began my onboarding process.
Roc Nation is located in New York (I live in Philly), and prices are significantly higher in NYC but I was aware that this was the opportunity of a life time. So far I have managed to get through my first week of work by commuting back and forth everyday between NY and Philly which in total is about 4hrs of travel time and $35 a day on bus tickets
