More Info

about the film:

During a winter storm in the suburbs, two friends decide to go for a walk. What ensues is like a child-like frenzy; careless and even reckless. The two womxn end up playing in the snow, throwing snowballs, running, trampling over each other, resulting in one of them falling and scratching their face. Bleeding and one mildly helpless, and the other ready to fix the running blood, this is when both womxn awaken a sexual tension between them that neither of them are ready to confront. Both of them come from orthodox homes.

about the creators:

Sadiah Rahman is the writer and director of this short film. Sadiah is a Bengali-Canadian storyteller that focuses on queers, womxn, and coloured bodies. Coming from a background in photojournalism and documentary, this will be the first narrative venture by Sadiah. Sadiah adores nature, music and photography.

Mirusha Yogarajah is the producer on this film. She is a queer, Tamil-Canadian woman who has a Masters degree in Public Policy and is currently working on directing an interactive documentary on the subculture of refugee youth and their cars in Scarborough. She likes her friends, Bananagrams, and cheese plates.

our support:

We are being mentored by Inside Out short film lab and alliance of south asian AIDS prevention (ASAAP). We are receiving support from community partners as well as Inside Out, a not-for-profit registered that exists to challenge attitudes and change lives through the promotion, production and exhibition of film made by and about LGBT people of all ages, races and abilities. Inside Out will help us with connecting us to resources, people, and making sure that we are on track to complete the film.

We have been in the mentorship lab for about a month now, and have already met with folks who are in the filmmaking industry to guide us through our roles, budget, writing, etc. The lab is composed of various sessions to introduce us to core topics in the filmmaking industry and connect us with the most riveting mentors.

The end product of our lab will be a five minute short film. The film will be debuted at Inside Out film festival in Mid-2020.
