Family, Friends, Supporters, Our Village-

As some of you know Matthew has struggled greatly in school. We have had multiple IEP, BIPs and brain storming meetings. He has been on different medications, used every "fidget" toy you can think of and has a behavioral analyst from the school district come into the classroom to help support his teacher.

Matthew does not have behavioral issues in school, he just shuts down.

Matthew has been doing tutoring for almost a year through Fit Learning, a local tutoring company in Aptos who specializes in helping children with special needs including Autism.

Matthew is doing great but has hit a wall which is preventing him from moving forward, READING.

Matthew struggles greatly when it comes to reading and has been referred to the Fit Learning Reading Program, which is not covered by insurance.

The difference between the Fit Learning Program vs the Fit Learning Reading Program is the following.

-Fit Learning Program focusses on processing, comprehension, thought follow through and social situations- COVERED BY MEDICAL INSURANCE because they are life skills that have been compromised due to his disabilities.

-Fit Learning Reading Program will pinpoint the specific level of reading that he is at then reteach him in a way that his specific brain works and understands.- NOT COVERED BY MEDICAL INSURANCE because these are skills that are the school districts "responsibility".

I have looked into every loop hole and from every angle possible, this will not be covered.

It is a 50 hours program and breaks down to $60 and hour.

This means that we have to come up with $3,000 for the first reading session and will more than likely need at least 1 more session after that.

We have multiple jobs, I have cashed in my vacation hours, canceled trips and sold everything we can in our garage to get extra money to enroll Matthew in this program and we are still are not even close so we are now reluctantly putting aside our pride to ask for our village to help us financially.

Anything helps and we appreciate you.

I have Venmo, Paypal or will take a check.

I have started this site so if you want you can get updated on Matthew's progress and maybe get a small glance into the complicated, beautiful and sometimes difficult journey we are on.

We love you all so much,

The Turners
