Martha was diagnosed with gastric cancer (adenocarinoma) on March 6, 2019. It is a rare form of cancer that does not benefit from a lot of research in the US. Initially it was believed that her cancer could be effectively treated in a short period of time. Unfortunately, that was not the case. Martha received chemotherapy treatments over several months and those were not as effective as the doctors had hoped. Her stomach is no longer functional and she can not eat through her mouth any longer. She is receiving the required calories and nutrients through TPN which is constantly fed intravenously into her blood. She can only survive by this for a short time before it becomes toxic. The doctors would like to perform a total gastrectomy removing her entire stomach to allow her to begin eating normally again. We are presently raising funds to cover our out of pocket expenses and deductible associated with the surgery. Our goal is $10,000.
Martha is married, her husband (Steve) had to stop working since her diagnosis to give her the required care that she needs to fight cancer. She also has a 10 year old daughter (Jaylee).
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you and God bless you.
