Help Mad Mares With Seed Projects!

From Daniel Meredith-Stein

We're raising money for heirloom seeds, soil amendments and to set up a seed sharing library on the farm for the public. We aim to increase vegetable production - providing more locally grown food for our community.

We're hoping to raise funds for the following projects at Mad Mares Farm:

  • To increase the variety of heirloom vegetables we grow on the farm.  This will require additional soil amendments, seeds and repair/purchase of deer netting/garden fencing.
  • To start a seed sharing library for the surrounding community, thereby encouraging others to grow their own food.
With food prices rising at unprecedented rates, we'd like to be able to provide more locally grown food at affordable prices.  We plan to sell directly from the farm, cutting out any cost to transport to a farmers market, etc.

The seed library would initially be stocked with seeds we use on the farm and those we've saved from previous harvests.  We plan to encourage people to take what they need and leave any excess they may have!

Thank you in advance for helping us fund these projects for the upcoming growing season!  You may know us for our Kunekune pigs, but we hope to have more to offer you soon!
