Update #12

So, in looking at Keely's current 529 accounts, I was excited to see them jump drastically over the past month. I got my hopes up about being able to make the tuition amount by May with the help of a Bull market.
And then....
The stock market took a DIVE last night.
Across the 3 accounts, I think I lost $1000 to go toward Keely's tuition, in a span of 48 hours. OUCH.
And I can only rebalance twice in a calendar year.
So, we need help more than ever. Looks like the stock market will likely continue to dive, meaning I could be low thousands of dollars from what I thought.
We were getting close.
Everything helps right now.
Thank you in advance for donating, sharing and for any good thoughts toward Keely in her endeavors. I can say that she is UBER excited, and I trust we will find a way to allow this to unfold for her.

Have you ever had a dream that you didn't fulfill? Do you still think about it?

My daughter Keely Dawn has a dream to be a singer. As a toddler, she walked around the house, singing to her dolls, to pets, and to anything that might listen.

Growing up, she has always been in choir (5 of them in high school!), and thankfully she was good at memorizing the music, because she usually lost her music folder!

She is fascinated with KPop (Korean Pop Music), and she is learning Korean on her own, so that she can one day live in Korea.

In high school, she performed with the Rogue Valley Youth Ensemble, with her 4 high school choirs, and she traveled to Europe as an Ambassador with the Oregon Ambassadors of Music. She was also a cheerleader and volunteered to sing at many of the games.

Keely has been accepted to her dream school, Berklee College of Music in Boston.  It is a big deal to get in, and it is an expensive private school. She was accepted on provisional, so she doesn't get financial aid for the first semester, which costs $23,000. If she does well, she gets to enroll in the fall, but financial aid is not guaranteed. Evidently, she could only get federal loans in the amount of $5,500 for the year, while a year cost $60,000.

I want to be able to help her with at least her first 2 semesters, until we can iron  out some financial aid, and hopefully some scholarships.

Those 2 semesters are $53,000 combined. This includes tuition and room and board, thankfully.

I feel confident that she can make her way from there, but those first 2 semesters, we need help.

Keely is working, putting her own money toward piano and music theory lessons to prepare, as well as an educational 529 fund.  I am also selling many, many items and putting money away, but it won't be enough by August.

We need $23,000 by May 5th- I think we can do this.

Another $30,000 by July 25th. If you take out the $5500 measly loan we can get, that is my goal amount of $24,500.

I don't like asking for help, but I would rather swallow my pride and see my girl reach for the stars and have a dream fulfilled. Thank you for reading and, hopefully, for contributing to a girl's dream.

Every little bit counts!

Update #11

Only 6 days left! I believe in dreams coming true. I hope you do too. Thank you to the people who have donated. Consider donating any amount to help a girl go to her dream school for at least the first semester.
And please share if you believe in dreams coming true, especially dreams of living an artist's life, of going against the 9-5 corporate world, against the thought that the only way is through that.
It is my hope that Keely will go to Berklee and realize there are many, many ways to live a fulfilling life doing what she loves. I didn't get that opportunity. It was cut off at the knees. We all should have that opportunity at any point in our lives, but especially when we are young and the energy is fresh, like a bright green sprig in spring. #dreamscometrue

Update #10

Keely comes home tonight from her songwriting workshop in Nashville.
She texted me on her first day that she sang to 20 people, including Mary Gauthier and a Grammy award winning songwriter. So awesome to see her getting out there. I like to think she is in heaven: https://www.instagram.com/p/BebEIMknoIn/

Oh, and only 10 days to help her dream come true!
Can you help with tuition? Every bit counts.

Update #9

Keely leaves uber early tomorrow to fly to Nashville for a songwriting workshop with Mary Gauthier (http://www.marygauthier.com/)!
At the workshop, they will be blessed to work with Grammy-winning writer Don Henry … a brilliant songwriter! He co-wrote “Where’ve You Been” for Kathy Mattea and “All Kinds of Kinds” for Miranda Lambert, in addition to a gazillion other great songs.
Plus, the wonderful Beth Nielsen Chapman will be joining on Sunday morning to spread her songwriting and vocal magic.
I am looking forward to Keely's pictures and video!
Send her good vibes for her first solo trip ever!

Update #8

Evidently, I messed up the link to Keely's video. So, let's try this a second time!
Keely performed for her FIRST. TIME. EVER with a live band, the amazing Rogue Suspects, on December 23rd at Morrton's in Medford, Oregon. She sang "Mercy", and it went so well, they had her continue for another song!
Keely has been invited back to sing with Shae Celine and the Rogue Suspects. I sure hope it's soon!

Update #6

Keely is performing Saturday night with Shae Celine and the Rogue Suspects at Morrton's! (http://morrtons.com/)
I will be catching the video, so stay tuned!
And if you can spare a bit, consider it a tip for the show. Every bit certainly helps. We have a long way to go, and I believe that #dreamscometrue.

If you have ideas of ways to bring in money, or places Keely can help out or sing, please let us know. We have 5 months to get ready!
In gratitude,
Keely and team

Update #5

Keely has been training with Shae Celine (http://www.shaeceline.com/) once a week, and they shared this lovely video of them singing Dona Nobis Pachem, which means "Grant us peace."
Wonderful message for this holiday season.
Enjoy!

Update #4

Here's a fun story for you. I worked at the Other Side Cosmic Cafe in Boston when I was pregnant with Keely. She was always surrounded by rocking music, because it happened to be just down the street from #Berklee College of Music. We had occasional celebrities come in, and I worked with people like Chris Trapper (http://www.christrapper.com/) and Kristin Cifelli (https://www.kristincifelli.com/), who are still musicians sharing their joy and talents. So, it's pretty amazing that Keely is going back to Boston. We left when she was 5 months old, so she doesn't remember it. BUT, we did visit when she was about 3. Here is a picture of Kristin Cifelli singing to her. Keely will get to take lessons from Kristin this summer at Berklee. With your help, she might be able to stay another semester. I do believe #DreamsComeTrue.

Update #1

Crazy thing happened this morning. I got an instant message from Brett Eldredge on Facebook! I took the opportunity to ask him if he knew of any organizations that might be able to help with Keely's funds. #Fail Turns out it was some internet troll from Nigeria that had seen that I posted on Brett's Real page the night before. I had a dream that he would pick my comment out of the hundreds. Ha! Hey, you never know. Dreams come true! Mine kind of did this morning....working my way there.
Donate and/share if you believe #dreamscometrue #bretteldredge #Berklee
