Oof. So things are bad. I fell for a scam and paid £1000 for a deposit and first month's rent on a flat that doesn't exist. Now I'm not only in debt to friends for a whole grand, but also back to couch-surfing. I have no idea what I'm going to do, frankly.
Because the money already donated has been spent on day to day survival, I've updated the total goal, increasing it by £1500. I'm very much hoping I can find a decent living situation soon, but that doesn't seem very likely right now.
Hi, my name is Isak and I'm a gay trans man currently living in Edinburgh.
As of writing this, I am insecurely housed. Housing services in the UK are overrun and there are few options for homeless shelters — and one of the more accessible ones is explicitly Christian and unlikely to be LGBT-friendly or very welcoming to a Jew. I do not have anything resembling a proper support network.
My short-term goal is to raise enough to get a decent new phone, as mine is dying and buying cheap or refurbished models has only resulted in having to buy a phone more often than is reasonable (this is my second phone in eight months). My long-term goal is to raise enough money to be able to rent privately while I wait for council housing and have money left over to supplement my benefits.
Due to having an income of only £73 a week from ESA (disability benefits in the UK), I'm unable to afford private rent; as it's extremely unlikely a private landlord would rent to me with a lease and without a real lease, I cannot receive Housing Benefit.
I have no family support, as I am currently semi-estranged from my parents and asking them for money will worsen the situation (and in any case, they're either unable or unwilling to provide financial help last I reached out to them).
I'm out of opinions. I need to climb out of this hole I've been in for the past eight months since I became homeless, but I can't do it without money. It's gauche to ask for something this directly, but I have no other recourse.
Donations of any size help. If you cannot donate, please spread the word. Thank you.

Through the wonderful generosity of the people I've reached out to, I have reached almost £350 in donations in just a couple of days, which is far more than I could've hoped for.
Please, keep donating and please, please spread the word to your friends and network. My ESA payment is still delayed and I have no idea when it's coming.

I've literally just launched the campaign and I've already got two donations! I'm super, super grateful. Even a little bit helps immensely, especially since I'm in such a precarious situation. Thank you so, so much to the two anonymous donors.
