Thanks for checking out my Fundly! I'm trying to raise money to successfully launch my mobile massage business "Relax with Massage and Bodywork" Please read description for a business outline, personal story, and more!
I've been working as a massage therapist for 6 years. I love the work that I do, and helping people relieve pain, reduce stress, and live a more balanced lifestyle. I've worked privately, for various franchises, and volunteer work.
This has mostly been a part-time venture, but is gaining enough momentum that I'd like to be able to focus entirely on "Relax" and let it soar!
I am crowdfunding to cover initial start up costs, product investment, and other business needs. I think it is very important for investors and funders to know the "behind the scenes" of a private massage business. Along with the actual physical massage work, I also am in charge of all paperwork, invoicing, bookkeeping (or paying someone to keep my books) and laundry, just to give a brief outline.
One thing that makes launching a business like this difficult, without funding, is that I am competing with large franchises that are able to offer much cheaper rates, due to their large membership database (think 2,000 members and charging only $60/massage.) They are able to keep a lower price, because they have constant revenue coming in. I am using all my resources to cover my bills, and keep my business afloat. Having an investment egg to cover costs will allow all funds to be funnelled directly into the business, and then the business will pay me salary for the work that I do.
I am an individual trying to reach 20-30 clients per month, and compete with those prices. Right now I am charging $70 for a full hour, and $90 for a full 90 minute session. I'd like to ask more, but in a competitive market it's very hard to do so.
Because of this, I am trying to find other ways to help my business be successful. I am also a certified aromatherapist and want to add a product line to my business. I love to make essential oil blends, sprays, lotions, salves, scrubs and epsom salt soaks. This will allow my massage prices to stay competive, and allow other revenues of income for the business.
You can see the business is growing thru our facebook link: https://www.facebook.com/relaxwithmassageandbodywork
It had also been written about in a local journal:http://voyagehouston.com/interview/daily-inspiration-meet-melanie-painter/
Every donation helps the business grow, and allows new products to be available to clients.
Crowdfunding money will go towards buying a folding massage chair, so I can work at events, festivals, nursing homes and more. Investment money will go toward product release of various aromatherapies- sale scrubs, epsom salt soaks, scented lotions, aromatic sprays, healing salves to name a few. The business also needs a printer, ink, paper, small desk, updated filing system, various office supplies, etc.
Thanks for reading and contributing! Every dollar helps and I'm so grateful that you see the potential here! I love to help people, so help me help them!
Here is an Amazon link to many of the items I need, if you would just prefer to help by purchasing materials needed, this link is not a full list of supplies needed, as I buy from Mountain Rose Herbs and Better Sunshine and Massage Warehouse for lotions, oils, and essential oils.
My personal story:
I'm almost 35 and a solo parent. My daughter is 2.5 and my goal is to be able to run my own business, and stay home with her as much as possible. I love to teach, and hope to homeschool her, til she is old enough to decide if she wants to go to school. We do not recieve child support, or any other form of support from her bio dad. I remain in Texas because my mom is here, and her relationship with her granddaugher is so important to all of us. She helps out by taking her a few days a week, which allows me to work. I think that being home for my child is important, and I feel so blessed to have this opportunity to do what I love, and provide for my child.
