Gohar has been battling aggressive forms of cancer for 10 years. She was most recently diagnosed with Neuroendocrine in her pancreas that has spread to her spleen and lungs. The current chemo she takes is $1200/month.
Hi everyone. My name is Annie and I am here to raise funds for my mom’s longtime, childhood best friend, Gohar. She is a single mother of two. My mom and Gohar have known each other since age 3 and grew up in the same neighborhood. They have spent many, many years together from childhood up until now. From summer camp to embarking on musical journeys to sewing/designing clothes together and selling them to make ends meet while living under the USSR. My mom and Gohar both even had their first borns, only a week apart back in 1990 (my brother Narek and Gohar’s daughter Mariam).
As many of you may know, my mom just recently lost her brother Armen, 2 months ago, at age 54. My mom and uncle were incredibly close. They were Irish twins. Armen also grew up with Gohar. I cannot think of the pain she’d endure if she were to lose her best friend now too. That is why I am here trying to give Gohar a second chance at life.
Gohar’s Story: Gohar has been battling aggressive forms of cancer for 10 years now. The cancer has been rapidly progressing all throughout her body. Almost every time she visits a doctor, something new appears. She can never get a break. Gohar has been through countless surgeries and medications. Unfortunately, Gohar was most recently diagnosed with Neuroendocrine (a rare tumor) in her pancreas that has now spread to her spleen and lungs. The current chemo medication she has been taking for 4 months now is the ONLY thing that has stopped the growth and spread. It is called Afinitor (Everolimus). But unfortunately, this chemo medication costs $1200 for a months’ worth of pills. And her insurance does not cover the cost, so every month, Gohar and her children have to somehow pay $1200 out of pocket to get her the medication she needs. Gohar’s daughter has been taking out bank loans for the past few months to try to continue purchasing the medication, but has now been denied because she has taken out too much.
If you can help out, even with $1, it would mean the world to us. As August slowly comes to an end, Gohar struggles to find the funds to pay for next month’s supply of chemo medication. We’re unsure how she’ll afford to continue on, but we are praying for a miracle from the public. This is the only medication that has helped her thus far, and we’d hate to have to give up now. Gohar deserves to live. Any penny counts and we will be forever grateful for every single donation. If you cannot donate, please share with your friends and family.
