Hello, My name is Cindy Wise. I want to plead for a fundraising for my spinal surgery (Laminectomy). I have been waiting to get the surgery done for a while now. Please check below for more info. Note: I am autistic :)
For years, I lived with periods of terrible, debilitating pain. There were times when I had to spend a few days in bed after I did a lot of walking or even after I carried light shopping bags. This posed quite a problem, since I was living in New York City at the time. Throughout the years, I have tried many treatments to alleviate my back pain, but none brought complete relief. I just figured that I would have to live with this pain for the rest of my life But then, last New Year’s Eve, I reached for the soap, and my back went out. It was the worst pain I have ever had. I was in agony, and it just kept getting worse. By February, I was experiencing numbness in my left foot and was having difficulty walking more than 20 to 30 feet. One of my neighbors had undergone spine surgery and recommended I look into it. I never thought of surgery as an option, but I knew there was no way I could continue living my life like this. I have always enjoyed being active, and I felt like my life was over.
Laminectomy is one of the most common back surgeries. During a laminectomy, a surgeon removes the rear portion of one or more spinal bones (vertebrae). Bone spurs and ligaments that are pressing on nerves may be removed at the same time.
This helps ease pressure on the spinal cord or the nerve roots that may be caused by injury, herniated disk, narrowing of the canal (spinal stenosis), or tumors. I will also undergo spinal fusion to stabilize the spine, receive a special implant that will help stabilize the bones in the lower back but not restrict motion in the same way a fusion does, have a disc removed, or have additional removal of bone to widen the passageway where nerves leave the spinal canal.
The surgery would need to be done as soon as possible, else complications might occur. I am currently using a wheelchair as walking has been next to impossible. Thank you so much everyone for your assistance.
Due to my limiting insurance, much of this is not covered. If you can help ease some of the financial and emotional burdens that I am facing with this, Please help any way you can by either donating or sharing, thank you. All donations will go towards my medical bills, pre-surgery and post-treatment.
Can’t donate? Please share. Even a quick share on Facebook can help.
The average share raises $97.
