Update #3

Two weeks ago we had to put our little buddy to sleep. His breathing became a lot worse, all his lymph nodes became very swollen, he was very uncomfortable for days before we took him to the vet. They did another scan and found that he developed little pockets of liquid all across his body and they suggested that we put him to sleep.
We have managed to raise almost 50% of his entire bill of £3900. I think this is absolutely incredible and I would like to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for donating, sharing and sending us their thoughts. Without this, we would have never had the chance to try chemo, we would’ve ended up always asking ourselves “What if it would’ve worked?”. This way we managed to do everything in our power to help Fritz and give him an almost normal life for a few more months, time in which we spoilt him with lots of love, lots of food and playing, which also eased our grief.
We’ll be sending a little something to everyone that donated to say thank you and as a way to remember him.
We will always remember Fritz as the nicest cat we’ve ever met.
And I would like to end with a little poem that helped me go through letting him go:
'Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die. '

More Info

Fritz is a stray cat that started coming into our house a couple of years ago and we started feeding him. In a few months he was sleeping and staying with us a lot more and we began buying things for him like beds, toys, scratching pads and taking him to the vet.

A couple of weeks ago Fritz started coughing and breathing very heavily so we took him to vet. They kept him in the oxygen room and did an x-ray which showed a mass in his fore chest cavity pressing on his lungs. They took a biopsy which confirmed lymphoma. Further blood tests were done to ensure that he does not have feline leukemia virus (FeLV) or feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) which could have caused it. Tests came back negative and the vet suggested that we start chemotherapy. He is a very young cat (2 years old) and chemotherapy can respond very well in cats, a lot of the time with no side effects so we decided to go through with it. Cats with lymphoma have the chance of going into complete remission and living a very normal life.

We have started his first round of chemo and Fritz started feeling a lot better. His breathing is almost back to normal! And he didn't have any side effects.

Unfortunately we don't have insurance for him and the costs becoming a lot more than we can handle so we have decided to start this campaign. All the money will go towards his bills: 1923£ (up until now that includes xray, ultrasound, biopsy, oxygen room and one round of chemo, steroids and probiotics) + 3 more rounds of chemotherapy, 1 xray.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and please help us raise money for Fritz's vet bills. We will be forever grateful. He is the nicest, friendliest cat I've ever known. He is also so young and we have been heart broken since the diagnosis but we are so grateful that he is feeling better and he is his usual self again.

Thank you!

To help with this campaign we will be making and giving out one of the following: crochet earphones holder, lino printed card, engraved dog/cat tag, succulent plant with pot or large print with frame.

Update #8

Fritz's breathing has drastically changed for the worst in the past 2-3 days. His lymph nodes started growing again and his coughing has become a lot worse. He only slightly improved yesterday evening when we gave him his steroid tablet. Despite all this he is still eating, purring and going outside. He is definitely a fighter.

Update #2

Fritz has now been through his first month of chemo. After doing another x-ray and an ultrasound the vet has said that he was showing only a partial response. His growth slightly reduced in size and his lymph nodes started to swell . Despite this he has been feeling a lot better!
We were advised to try a different type of chemo and see how he responds to that. It has now been a week since he did his first round of the new drug and he is feeling good! Although he has been coughing and wheezing a bit, his lymph nodes have started to reduce in size. Finally some good news!
This new type of chemo is done every 3 weeks rather than every week and it's a pill, not iv. So things have been much easier both for us and for him! We'll be doing another x-ray and ultrasound once we finish with the first 4 pills and hopefully we'll have some more good news then.
Thank you so much everyone for donating. We couldn't have made it this far without you all. ✌️❤️
