Kristen had another surgery this week to repair her clavicle that was severely broken. The doctors installed a plate to put it back together. She is showing great improvement. She is such a fighter. She believes that the reason that she and Brody are progressing so well is the new Angel they have watching over them. Brody has been home with Kristen's parents for about a week. Kristen will be headed home to her parent's house this week. Both mom and son are in recovery mode. Kristen is so excited to be at home with her son. We still send them our love, prayers, and support!!

More Info

On June 25th, 2015 Sergeant Colby Bozo and his wife Kristen were driving home from their weekly Ob check-up in Bedford Texas. Kristen was 37 weeks pregnant & they were so excited about meeting their first born, Brody. Out of no where, a man evading police in a stolen car ran a red light and t-boned the drivers side of the Bozo's car.

Sergeant Bozo, age 25, who was driving, was killed on impact.  Kristen, age 22, and their unborn son Brody were badly injured and barely hanging on to life.  Due to the force of the accident, Kristen's placenta detached from her uterus.  By the time the emergency C-Section was performed, Brody had been without an adequate supply of oxygen for an extended period of time.

Kristen sustained a severe brain injury along with many other serious bodily injuries.  She underwent immediate brain surgery to try to reduce the swelling on her brain and save her life. Kristen and Brody were in the ICU at different Fort Worth Hospitals for over 2 weeks, both fighting for life every minute of every day.

Kristen awoke about 10 days in.  Her mom and dad had the incredible burden of telling her that she was in an accident, she lost her husband, she gave birth while unconscious, and that she could not see her son as he was being cared for at a different hospital.

As I write this, the horrific accident occurred two and a half weeks ago.  Kristen has only been able to see Brody once in person as she was being transported to rehab from the ICU.  Brody is still under supervision at Cooks and will be going home with Kristen's parents when he is released.  Kristen will rejoin the family when she is released from rehab.  As of now the doctors don't know if that will take 6 weeks or 6 months.  It all depends on Kristen's will and determination to get better.

Kristen is a full time student at UNT who has worked part time as a Cheerleading Coordinator for i9 Sports in Tarrant County for the last four and a half years.  We are very hopeful that with a lot of rehab she will eventually be able to return to school and work, and will be able to help care for her son Brody.

She has been dealt a hand in life that is going to be very hard to recover from, both mentally and physically.  She has a long road to recovery.

Right now she needs financial support from the community.  She and Colby, being such a young family, had no life insurance nor a will in place.  Colby was in the Reserves and therefore Kristen will only be receiving limited Military benefits.  She is and will be unable to work for a long while.  She has the further financial burdens of insurmountable medical bills and a brand new baby to care for.

We ask that anyone that can, please donate funds to Kristen and Brody. No matter how small the amount, every dollar counts and is so appreciated.  The funds are going directly to Kristen's account for her direct use when she is out of rehab.

If you are unable to donate funds, we understand. We ask that everyone pray for a full and swift recovery for Kristen and that baby Brody hits all his milestones and grows up without any disability.

Please share this page with friends and family and ask if they are able to help.

Thank you for any and all support you can give!
