I am trying to raise funds to help Siliva and Lucia Svitekova, dear friends of mine from Slovakia (Bratislava) with the hospice fees ( and eventually the funeral costs) for their father.

Their father is terminally ill and the health care system in Slovakia will not help to cover expenses for hospice and the hospital wants to kick him out. The size of the bills for hospice care would definitely ruin Silvia and Lucia, get them in debt and completely disrupt their financial future.

Both are hard-working and responsible women and this is an unfair and unforeseen situation.

We are asking for any financial help you can provide. Some Background:Stefan Svitek (their father), only 61 years old,  was a normal healthy active guy, but about 90 days ago began feeling pain in his upper back and later in his neck. About a month ago his throat was swollen and he could not speak and parts of his upper body felt paralyzed. Alarmed he went to the hospital and to his surprise and the surprise of his family,  Doctors discovered he had tumors all over his neck and as they ordered more studies they realized he had lung cancer that had metastasized to his brain and all over his body.He has spent since all this time in the hospital, where he underwent emergency surgeries to drain the liquid in his lungs and other emergency issues. Now that he is stable, the hospital wants to get rid of him and so he spends the last perhaps weeks or months of his life somewhere else.

He needs medical care 24 hours a day so a hospice would be ideal but the cost of a hospice in Slovakia is about $1400 USD per month and the government does not provide any help.People in Slovakia on average make less than 700 Euros a month so that is a fortune for that country.

His 2 daughters can barely cover their own expenses, Lucia used to be a Yoga instructor and recently got married and just had a baby, she had to leave her job to take care of the baby and her husband barely makes enough to cover their own expenses, and Silvia, a financial advisor and mortgage and insurance specialist and sales agent was already taking care of a good portion of the expenses of her mother, with the pandemic her sales have almost disappeared and with them her income, government help is very small during the pandemic.

This new unforeseen expense (the hospice care and eventually the funeral) would definitely get them in financial trouble for now and in their future. So we ask for any help you can provide so Stefan can spend his last days properly attended and his final care does not financially ruin his family. He has no one else in a position to help.I have set up a goal of $3000 initially but I am projecting the bills will be far more. I will set up other fund risers in other systems. He has to be moved out of the hospital this week (last week fo July 2020).Thanks in advance for your generosity.
