Help for a Navy veteran

Help for a Navy veteran

From Apolinario Sabulao

I am raising money for my son for rent and bills. He was unjustly terminated from his work as an independent contractor on Nov 3. He is on his second appeal and would proceed to arbitration if not resolved.

Here is another contractor that just got terminated last night for the same reason.

More Info

I am pleading for help for my son, Rolito, who was terminated unjustly from his independent contractor work at a well-known and giant technology company! Earlier this month, he received a termination email out of nowhere (see attached photo). He said this recently happened to other delivery partners across the country but he never thought he was going to be one of them. He said the termination was prompted by a selfie submitted that supposedly did not match with his photo they have on file which is very odd. He mentioned that selfie submission is a newly added but intermittent verification process to ensure that the account owner is the one doing the work and not someone else. Even with the selfie submission, a delivery partner still has to check in and hand in his/her driver license at the pickup station for the standard verification, where the license is checked and scanned by a station personnel. Given that, he can't think of anything that would cause such issue. He never submitted anyone else's selfie. It just did not make sense. The termination email he received did not provide any proof, not even the selfie in question. He suspects it's due to a faulty face recognition software, victimizing a lot of delivery partners like him. He already appealed his case but was rejected. He sent another appeal along with all possible proofs he can provide but has not heard back. If worse comes to worst, he will bring his case to an arbitrator, which comes with a cost of course. This was clearly an unjust termination and is the most ridiculous way to get terminated. He worked hard, followed all policies and guidelines, and even received commendations from customers so what they did to him was an injustice without a doubt and he wants to fight back! He took this work to make ends meet. It has been a huge help for him and his family in putting food on the table, paying bills, and his depression.  It is also a good work because of the semi-flexibility of schedule, given his various appointments with doctors every month.

My son is a US Navy veteran who was discharge due to medical issues acquired while in the line of duty. He receives VA benefits and services but is obviously not enough to sustain his young family's needs. He had a job out of state but could not continue with it any longer because of the its physical demands, exacerbating his medical issues. He's been fighting to get 100% disability.

I wish is for my son to be able to get help for his current predicament! I don't want him to fall into depression again and become homeless. He is a good son, husband, and father. It's been a rough year for him and his family emotionally and financially, having to deal with deaths of family members. I am in no financial position to help him so for the first time and hopefully last, I am reaching out to good citizens of the Internet world to ask for help. All the funds that gathered will go to his house rent and bills while he is waiting for the result of the appeal and looking for another job/gig at the same time. He has applied to some but has not heard back. Thank you and I will sincerely appreciate every bit of help you can extend, financial or otherwise! No act of kindness is too small. Have a blessed day!

Update #2

My wife created this campaign but was having an issue with connecting her Facebook account and setting up Stripe so she asked me to create this so she can delete the one she made.
