Assalamualaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh my dear brothers and sisters in Islam, I will (inshallah ta’ala) be going back home to Abidjan, Ivory Coast in July. In Abidjan, there are slums where people live in precarious conditions. From tiny living spaces to lack of food and water among other problems, their suffering is intense. While watching those affecting videos, I was thinking that something definitely needed to be done about this. Since I don’t see anyone doing anything to resolve this problem, I’ve decided to take matters into my own hands and raise funds to help those people out. After being informed that I will be spending time in Abidjan, I told myself that I couldn’t go empty handed. I had to come with funds to help them out. Please give as much as you can for the sake of Allah to help our brothers and sisters in Abidjan. The money raised will (inshallah ta’ala) be converted into their local currency and go towards buying food, water, and clothing. Cash will also be given directly to them to pay for their rent, school fees and other necessities.
The Benefits :
Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Charity does not decrease wealth” (Muslim)
When we spend money, our wealth decreases, but that is not the case when it comes to giving for the sake of Allah. No one goes broke giving charity. Believe it or not, by giving charity your wealth increases.
Abu Hurairah (RAA) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Whoever relieves a believer’s distress of the distressful aspects of this world, Allah will rescue him from the difficulties of the Hereafter. Whoever alleviates [the situation of] one in dire straits who cannot repay his debt, Allah will alleviate his lot in both this world and in the Hereafter. Whoever conceals [the faults of] a Muslim, Allah will conceal [his faults] in this life and the Hereafter. (Muslim)
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said “Sadaqah extinguishes sin as water extinguishes fire” (Tirmidhi)
“The likeness of those who spend for Allah’s sake is as the likeness of a grain of corn, it grows seven ears every single ear has a hundred grains, and Allah multiplies (increases the reward of) for whom He wills, and Allah is sufficient for His creatures’ needs, All-Knower).” (Qur’an, 2:261)
The benefits of giving charity for the sake of Allah are endless and these are just a few of them. I promise to make dua in the last third of the night for all the donors and that all the funds will go towards helping our vulnerable brothers and sisters in Abidjan. Once again, donate as much as you can and share it with others.
Wa barakallahu feekum wa jazakum allahu khayran wa salam alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh
