Ellen is a Med-Surg Registered Nurse with over 20 years of experience in healthcare. Her journey began as a Medical Assistant with AmeriCorps, where she dedicated herself to community service—offering disaster relief, educating expectant mothers, and volunteering with the elderly. Her passion for helping others led her to pursue nursing, and she overcame many challenges along the way.
As a single mother to twin boys, both on the autism spectrum, Ellen paused her education to care for them during their early years. In 2018, she proudly earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, never giving up on her dream. Over the years, she has worked tirelessly to provide a stable home for her sons.
In September 2023, Ellen faced another challenge. She was temporarily separated from her boys while securing a nursing position in a new town. This period also meant losing precious time with her terminally ill mother, who passed away in February 2024. During these difficult months, Ellen spent a large portion of her savings to support her parents and help with funeral arrangements.
Ellen has always been the type of person who steps up when her community needs her. During Hurricane Milton on October 9, 2024, she was away from her family to provide care for patients in the hospital as part of Team A, the first group of responders in stat emergency and disaster relief situations. Her commitment to her patients, even in times of personal sacrifice, is a testament to her resilience and selflessness.
Ellen has always been the one to give to others, never asking for much in return. Now, we have an opportunity to give back to her, helping her achieve the American Dream she’s worked so hard for.
