I am fundraising to help children in one of the poorest countries in the world, Lesotho. Located in Southern Africa, kids in this country ravaged by poverty and the effects of HIV deserve a chance. Only way is Education!
I hail from one of the poorest countries in Africa - Lesotho. I grew up surrounded by poverty and people with a grim outlook on life. And yet I managed to qualify as a Professional Accountant (CPA) and have made a success of my life. That is the power of Education.
I aim to use this power to save as many children as possible from poverty in my home country of Lesotho. The way to help these kids to make something of their lives is to give them the opportunity to proper education.
Lesotho is historically a poor country. But has been affected even more in the last 20 years by the prevalence of HIV. Currently 25% (1 in 4) of the adult population has HIV. This has left so many children with no parents or in broken families.
I seek funds to pay for school fees for children in the village of Mount Moorosi in the district of Quthing in Lesotho. This is where I grew up. My dad worked as the Principal of a school in Lesotho for about 35 years and my mom worked as a teacher in the same school. So we, as a family, got lot of contacts in the area and can ensure that we can do something for the unlucky few in a not-so-popular part of the world and bring light in at least some of their lives.
In Lesotho, university education is paid for by the government. We just need to find a way to get these kids through secondary school so that they can get to the university. I hope with the help of kind hearts like you, we can make a difference.
