My sister Kelli and her beloved pup Dash. He is in need of TWO corrective surgeries to regain his ability to walk. Any support is welcome (even an uplifting comment). Thank you!
If you know Kelli, you know she is a wonderful pet-mom who adores her two sweetie dogs, Kirby and Dash.Dash (her 2.5 year old Golden Retriever/Border Collie) is in a bad way.
In June 2019, Dash came limping into the kitchen one night...the next day he was diagnosed with cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) disease - the issue has gotten progressively worse, and he is no longer able to walk more than a few feet at a time. He is in excruciating pain...The long and the short of it is this: Dash blew out both of his knees, and he requires two corrective surgeries to regain his ability to walk.
The vet said he is genetically predisposed to this type of injury - prevention might have helped some, but there was no indication that he would have any issues until it was too late. At first, he went lame in his left rear leg...Kelli scheduled the TPLO surgery with plans to make monthly payments, but sometime over the weekend, he blew out his right knee as well...that means he requires TPLO surgery in both his left and right knees...the recovery/rehab period for one knee is around 12 weeks. They are looking at 6 months of rehab, but the vet assures that he will have a long and full life of running and playing after he fully heals.
Kelli has looked over and considered the different options... The cost of the surgical procedure starts at $2000 (for each leg). That cost doesn’t include follow-up appointments or rehab. As a single woman who works for a church, this amount of money is significantly out of reach for Kelli to manage on her own. We are reaching out to her beloved community for love and support, and we appreciate you taking the time to read this…

Here’s a little back story on Dash’s entry into the family:
While working at Girl Scouts two years ago, Kelli met Dash, a weeks-old Golden Retriever/Border Collie pup (one of nine in the litter). The original plan was for Kelli to adopt Dash to be a companion for Kirby, her other dog - an Aussie-Spaniel mix a few years older, who was having some anxiety issues. Dash moved in at around 8 weeks old and Kirby took to him instantly. They became the best of friends and playmates..wrestling, tugging, chasing, and finally crashing together. Dash’s presence really helped smooth out Kirby’s anxiety. Dash has always been a highly energetic guy...he loves running wild on open trails, diving in creeks, chasing the ball at the park and he’s an epic cuddler and just all around a damn good dog.
Your love and support is greatly appreciated. If you are able to offer assistance financially, that is wonderful...but, your good wishes for the best outcome for all involved are also very much appreciated.
