Hello, my name is Namir Fearce. I am a North Minneapolis born and based interdisciplinary artist and cultural worker. My studio practice engages experimental film, assemblage, and music under the moniker Blu Bone. I am now in production for my thesis film. In this Wicked Womb is a project informed by a constellation of Black Atlantic histories and sites of memory, together weaving complex emo-political worldscapes in which Black futurity and freedom are conjured
I just recently completed my BFA at UIC where I worked in the media center and had access to equipment that helped me develop my thesis and create work in the last year. However, like many students and Black Art students in particular my graduation is bittersweet as it leaves me without access to University resources.
In this Wicked Womb, navigates radical pleasure, intimate determination, and the implications of living in spite of. I look forward to the actualization of this work as It's been a joy and a learning, but it is in need of funding and resources to complete production.
These funds will go towards:
1. Purchasing a laptop
-This will go toward the production for In this Wicked Womb and future works.
2. Safe Relocation.
-This will go toward my move from Chicago back to Minneapolis, and securing housing.
3. Investment, film gear and equipment
Additionally I am accepting donations for the following materials and am open to materials unlisted as well:
- ART interface
- SM58 mic
- 25" xlr
- Hi 8 camera
I have sought after grants to no avail and am now turning to my community. I vow to pay this work forward.
Please join me in its conjuring.
