Hello everyone! My name is Cydney. As those close to me know, I am hard of hearing. I have been for most of my life. My hearing loss is caused by cochlear nerve damage, also known as sensorineural hearing loss. Having this type of hearing loss puts me at a risk of developing Alzheimers disease - a disease that I am already at risk for, as my father passed away a few years back after a long battle with it. I have two beautiful children, Frank who'll soon be 13, and Lily who is 5 and has ASD. I want, no, I need, to be able to hear my children. I need to do everything possible to correct my hearing loss to help prevent it worsening, as well as help slim my chances of having them see me deteriorate right before their eyes from Alzheimers. I have been very fortunate in finding an insurance that will cover part of the cost of hearing aids, but there is still a large sum of money left for me to pay out-of-pocket. With the amount I am spending on appointment costs, travel to and from specialist care, and various therapies for my daughters autism, I just can't throw thousands of dollars into my hearing. I wish I could, but it's just not possible. I'm never one to ask for help, instead, I'm the one always offering it, but when it comes to this, I need all the help I can get. If you can help, that's amazing. If not, it only takes a minute to share. Thanks for taking the time to read my story. Big hugs and love.
