Help support the Smith family on the road to recovery for sweet Hartley’s brain cancer battle.
In January 2021, mommy Erica Smith decided to load up Hartley (without appointments!) and drive to Memphis because her sweet girl had been feeling bad. She went straight to Le Bonheur ER. They did a stat CT (given all her medical history). Later that day, Erica and Eric were given the heartbreaking news that Hartley had a brain tumor located in the 4th ventricle of her brain. Hearing those words as a parent is something you never want to hear.
On January 22, 2021, Hartley underwent surgery to remove the tumor. The surgery was a success in that the tumor was removed. However, the fight continues for Hartley.
This week, Eric and Erica got the call about her pathology report. The tumor is called, Anaplastic Ependymoma (stage III) with chromosomes 1q gain. It’s a fast growing, aggressive, and malignant tumor. They are now back in Memphis at St. Jude Hospital to start Hartley’s radiation and chemotherapy treatments.
From mommy, Erica Smith:
“The past 5 years has been a constant roller coaster ride but one thing I know is God is the driver and without Him we wouldn’t be able to survive it!! Please keep Hartley and my family in your prayers!!! We truly need them!!!! From the bottom of our hearts, we thank y’all so much!!!❤️“
