The populations of Nippes and Grandanse in southern Haiti had no idea they would be in turmoil on August 14, 2021. At 8:30 am a powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 7.2 caused devastation to an already impoverished and struggling country.
This disaster has brought not only significant damage to the infrastructure but pain and despair. More than 2200 deaths have been reported and nearly 12200 injured with the numbers continuing to rise. Currently, it is estimated that over 135000 families are homeless. Many have resorted to sleeping outdoors using trees as makeshift shelters. To add insult to injury Tropical Storm Grace battered Haiti with strong winds and heavy rain just 3 days later.
The “MISYON SOVE AYITI CORP” team is calling for the greatest solidarity and mobilization from all over the world to come to the aid of our brothers and sisters in Haiti. Donations of tents, blankets, sanitary kits, nonperishable food, drinking water, diapers, flashlights, batteries and so much more are needed. Any help will make a tangible difference to the victims of this tragedy
