For more than four decades, Habitat for Humanity has helped thousands of people build decent homes and renewed their hope. The organization works with support from communities and organizations to raise money for building affordable homes.

Thousands of people have benefited from Habitat for Humanity projects in the US. There was joy in Bucks County, PA, during the groundbreaking event on its 125th home. It was a significant milestone for Habitat for Humanity of Buck County.

The team behind the show

Present during the groundbreaking were the organization’s leaders and sponsors. The construction site is located on Beaver Dam Road, Bristol Township. The Habitat for Humanity team was led by the Habitat Bucks Board President Gary Pruden and the Executive Director Florence Kawoczka.

The team was accompanied by the project sponsors. Among them was the Parx Casino team, Chris Smylie and Ron Davis. The future home buyer Jenny was accompanied by her two sons. The DCOO and Chief Clerk Bucks County Gail Humphrey were present, accompanied by Deb Sorenson from Wells Fargo.

Parx Casino has lately been involved in investing in new projects. It recently renovated its facility in Bensalem into an ultra-modern facility housing a pizza restaurant, gastro pub restaurant, modern kitchen, and modern parking. Apart from modernizing its casino floor, Parx Casino recently launched a new online casino in Pennsylvania.

The current state of US Housing market

The US housing market prices have consistently recorded a rise of 17.1% year after year. This has made housing unaffordable to the average US citizen. The housing projects by Habitat for Humanity has helped many US citizen afford decent homes.

The Bucks Habitat Executive Director Florence Kawoczka said the organization has been focusing on rehabilitation or rebuilding of existing homes lately. For a couple of years, the organization has not engaged in building a home from scratch. She said Habitat was happy to launch a project from scratch.

Many US citizens who cannot afford decent housing look for other sources like bank loans and crowdfunding websites. Jenny has lived all her life in Lower Bucks County, and she will be working at the site along with volunteers from Wells Fargo and Parx Casino. She submitted her application in November and was selected in March. She said she was amazed that her dream to own a home was really happening.

A proud team

Ron Davis from Parx Casino was joined by his team from Parx at the groundbreaking ceremony. He said the team was tremendous and was part of Parx’s answer to the community to reach out. Ron said the Parx team does things tremendously well. They dream, believe, and leave in service to accomplish the Parx mission. He thanked Jenny and her family for their hard work and all that they had done. The project was their dream come true. Ron was happy to be part of a wonderful team.
