Our Current Situation - Our warehouse is used as a roller derby practice facility. Due to recent city occupancy changes, we have to make significant renovations to ensure our warehouse is in compliance. We are struggling with the costs, and are in need of some financial assistance. We are in jeopardy of losing our practice space and derby home if we can’t raise enough funds to cover these costly renovations. We would love to continue bringing this amazing sport to the Triad Community.

Who Are We? - Greensboro Roller Derby (GSORD) was established in 2010 and is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. It is 100% skater owned and operated and runs completely on the tireless efforts of our volunteers: skaters and non-skaters alike. Our league is recognized as a member of the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA), and we are dedicated to bringing the roller derby movement to the Triad. GSORD consists of local women from all walks of life. We are wives, mothers, students, successful business and health professionals, community volunteers, and friends. Our culture focuses on athleticism, teamwork, strength, and community. We are committed to providing a safe, supportive, and empowering environment for everyone in our derby family.

Support Your Local Athletes – Roller derby is a real sport, with real contact. Unlike the roller derby of the 1970’s, today’s roller derby is not a theatrical performance, but a true showing of strong, athletic women battling it out on the flat track. Our skaters train hard to maintain strong mental and physical performance. GSORD follows the rules set forth by WFTDA, the sport’s governing body. In addition to training several hours multiple times a week, GSORD participates in fundraising and volunteering for our community. At our bouts, a portion of our ticket sales goes to various charities. Our league has donated to local women’s organizations, animal shelters, suicide prevention groups, youth groups, and many other community outreach programs.

Roller Derby Outreach – Roller derby is currently the fastest growing sport in the world, with over 1,200 leagues in the United States and even more worldwide. It is a full contact sport with attitude and style – nothing is faked or staged. The sport is attracting more fans than ever before and they feel very passionate about flat track roller derby. Our bouts bring in hundreds of spectators from different backgrounds, lifestyles, and age groups: from sports fans, to punk rockers, to soccer moms. Advertising with us gives you the potential to reach thousands of new customers.

Media Presence -  Our league has been featured several times on local television news stations, newspapers, and radio. 1808 and O. Henry magazines have also covered our league with featured articles.

Online and Social Networking – Our Facebook page receives 10,000 hits per year and has over 5,400 likes. We have 1,700 followers on Twitter and 850 followers on Instagram.
